TRYING is not good enough
I challenge all of us to take the word TRY out of our vocabulary. The word equates to failure and victimization; “I’ll TRY to do my best!” “I’ll TRY to exercise and get in better shape.” “I’ll TRY to be on time.”
Trying is not good enough, and the words we use matter. Look at the difference in the above examples: “I’ll do my best!” “I’ll exercise and get in better shape.” “I’ll be on time.” Which statement leads to more success?
A winning athlete does not TRY to do their best; whether they win or lose, they DO their best. A marriage doesn’t have a loving ending because two people TRY. It happens because they DO what is necessary. A salesman doesn’t succeed because they TRY to sell the product. They earn the commission because they SELL the product.
What do YOU want? What do YOU yearn for? What is on YOUR bucket list?
Don’t just TRY to get it. Get out your 3×5 notecards and make a plan. List the steps needed to get what you want.
Years ago, when I was a young wife and mother, I wanted a new sofa. I went to the store and found just what I wanted. We didn’t have enough money to buy it. I could accept that, but I didn’t give up. I looked in the want ads of the Denver paper every day, thinking someone might have a sofa I might like just as well for a lot less money.
On the fourth day, there was an ad for a sofa that sounded exactly like the one I wanted from the store. Sure enough, same color, same end tables, same everything, and at a price we could afford.
I didn’t TRY to get a new sofa; I got the one I wanted because I didn’t stop. Call it luck or stubborn, I got the sofa.
I am just an ordinary person, and if I can, YOU can. Whatever your dream, goals, wishes, or desires, do not use the word TRY as you embark on the journey. TRY sabotages your end result. TRY is not the word used by champions or by successful achievers.
I am not suggesting you jump into something that is not reasonable or achievable. I am only suggesting that if you have done your homework, don’t say you are going to TRY to do it. Say you are going to do it and DO it.
Until the next time: Live while you live!

Jennifer you are amazing. Your words speak such truth. Yesterday I thought, “I will try to find time to read this”…
from this morning on … I just WILL take time to do things.

Me too Rita….I always write to myself! I have “tried” to take “try” out of my vocabulary and it does make a difference. I hope this finds you well and I appreciate your comments!
