Baby, it’s COLD outside

1I added two more theater experiences. One was Perfect Crime at the Theater Center on Broadway and 50th. A first. It was a mystery, of course, with gun shots and all. I did not get sleepy as I sat front row, center. I felt sympathy for the five actors because they worked so hard and did such a great job for an audience of under twenty. I think it must be hard to make a living as an actor, especially in NYC with the high cost of living. I guess that explains why many have more than one job.6

I had a lazy day on Wednesday and went to see a movie, Miss Sloane. I arrived early, and for the first twenty minutes, I was in the big dark theater alone. A first, It was quite eerie, but the movie was worth seeing. It addressed lobbyists, the sleazy of Washington DC, and the NRA. It did not lack reflective and pertinent topics.

T4hursday, I had a ticket to the Christmas Spectacular, Radio City Rockettes. A first. The weather was freezing, but my experience was all I could have dreamed. For years I have yearned to see the Rockets in NYC, and it did not disappoint. I hope the pictures portray the magical dances and sets. I purchased this ticket before leaving Colorado, and I was in the center seat of the mezzanine, first row. Some things are worth exorbitant prices. I was mesmerized.2

Walking back to my apartment I was frozen and stepped into St. Malachy’s —The Actors’ Chapel. A first. Knowing how stressful the entertainment world can be, their services are scheduled before and after the theater. It’s a chapel for actors, dancers, etc., to have a place to worship. I will go back for mass, maybe on
Christmas Eve; it had a spiritual reverence.

On Friday I could still feel my fingers when I arrived at 555 W38th for an all day writing class: “Character Development.” A first. Less wind equaled less 5windchill.  I have considered fiction writing and thought learning before rather than relearning later was a good idea. The class was good, and I had lunch with a woman who too, mainly writes nonfiction. I so seldom get to visit with another writer my age, and I enjoyed the connection. I now have met two women writers in NYC; Judy and Suzanne.

The day closed with my last Write-In. The two prompts were, “Not so Merry,” and “Naughty.” I have enjoyed this creative writing in a safe (no negative comments are allowed) and social environment.

Watch me sparkle. Oh, and Live While you Live.
