What is a story? What is your story?
A story is anything you choose it to be. It can be as simple as describing a flower blowing in the breeze or as complex as your entire life. It can be something you did on Sunday or what broke your heart when you were ten years old.
Every day holds a multitude of stories. Every fiction or non-fiction book is a collection of stories. A song is a story as is the gleam or glaze in someone’s eyes. History is nothing more than a series of stories. A person is no more than the sum of the stories in his/her life.
My partial story this weekend was 4-wheeling with my husband, son in-law, his father, and granddaughter. The day was cool and damp. We ate a hearty breakfast at the Happy Cooker before heading up the mountain above Georgetown, Colorado with two pick-up trucks pulling trailers transporting four 4-wheelers.
I was terrified before I straddled the seat and initially pushed on the throttle to begin moving. From that point forward I was focused on unleveled ground, rock, rivers, and drop-offs. The fear left, strategy kicked in, and the six hour ride was exhilarating.
The scenery was breathtaking. Wild flowers were yellow, red, purple, white, and everywhere. We took a snack break on snow, investigated an old mining shack, and rode through wide raging rivers. Well – raging might be a stretch.
With imagination I could expand this very short clip of our ride to an expansive essay. I could also cut more stories from our night at the rustic Mountain View Inn, the Georgetown Loop train ride, the high tea at the Dusty Rose Tea Room, the malt at the End of the Line Soda Fountain, and the traffic on I-70 as we headed home.
Just an example of a story; my six hour Sunday 4-wheeling story.
What is your Sunday story?
Until the next time: Live while you live!
